About
The culture found El Nino before he found the booth — and that's what makes him different.
Born and raised in Oakland, California, the artist known as ninosonino first turned heads in 2013, when his style, energy, and undeniable
presence caught the attention of some of the most influential names in streetwear and hip-hop: Playboi Carti, Skepta, ASAP Bari, Ian
Connor, and Pouya — all before he had a single song to his name. By 2016, he was being featured by GQ Magazine and Urban Outfitters,
solidifying himself as a cultural force at the intersection of fashion and music.
But modeling was never the destination. Music was always the mission. Growing up in Oakland, El Nino formed his first rap group SMF with
childhood friends, sharpening his pen and his ear long before the spotlight arrived. In 2016, he released his debut single "Need It"
featuring Sam Flora, followed by the "El Nino vs The World" EP in 2017. Then came 2018's STORM — a debut album that announced him as more
than a social media figure. He was a real artist with something to say, backed by aggressive delivery, hard 808s, and a sound that left
listeners wanting more.
In 2020, El Nino leveled up from artist to executive, launching Damn Shaw Industries — his independent record label and creative
collective. The 21-track compilation Damn Shawizm (Deluxe) dropped that same year, showcasing the collective's depth alongside
collaborators Monte, Lem West, and Gzaay. The "Damn Shaw Pt 2" single followed in 2022, earning a feature on EARMILK and a music video
directed by Jay Pusha of WetVisuals — the same director behind visuals for 2KBaby, DDG, and A1Beam.
Beyond the music, El Nino runs NXN Designs (@nxndesignss), a creative design company, and a merch line — building a self-sustaining
ecosystem where the art, the brand, and the business all feed each other. No middlemen. No gatekeepers.
His 2025 project Lost In The Sound — featuring heavy collaborations with Khaos OG Kush, LUi OgWave, and NASDAQ OOOZI — marks the latest
chapter in a career that's been steadily building for nearly a decade. Tracks like "Double The Trouble," "MIDNIGHT IN CHIEF," and
"Electric Love" show an artist who refuses to stay in one lane.
From Oakland to New York to Nevada, El Nino moves like the storm he named himself after — impossible to ignore and always on the way.
Independent rockstar. CEO. Founder. Artist. The blueprint is his own.
